What is Urban Exploring?

Urbex, UE, Bexing, Urbexing, or Draining are all terms for the hobby of Urban Exploring. Urban Exploring is the hobby of exploring and documenting any abandoned buildings, or man-made environment. Normally Urban Exploring contains a great deal of research into buildings, and normally documentation through images and reports of the location.

Urban Exploring can be quite a dangerous hobby, as the buildings can be structurally unstable, broken glass, unknown substances (Such as Asbestos) and such other threats as violent squatters. And of course, there is an element of danger from law enforcement, as in some circumstances the hobby can be seen as trespassing.

The hobby has been growing in the past few years, and there are quite a few forums available for enthusiasts to post reports and discuss sites. The growth of the hobby has mainly been attributed to recent books and television documentaries. Whatever the reason for the explosion in interest of the hobby, we certainly are seeing a lot more interested individuals ourselves!
