Church of St John the Baptist

The church is a partial ruin set in the old grounds of Carmel College. (See our post on Carmel College here.)
The church itself is set on the river back, and is one of the many Grade II listed buildings on the site. People estimate the church was built in the 12th century, with heavy renovations and works though out the 18th century. In 1981 the church was declared redundant. The church has been left open, and many people in the community see to its running, such as general cleaning and leaving fresh flowers. It is a beautifully small church, and definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.
